Gay Fort Lauderdale Neighborhoods

Downtown
Although downtown Fort Lauderdale has grown in recent years, not much happens there. The only discernibly gay business in the area is Pride Factory, located a few blocks north of downtown on Federal Hwy. You’ll probably find that the best place to check out downtown is the Riverwalk, a mile long pedestrian walkway that you can take a stroll down. Riverwalk begins near Las Olas Blvd surrounded by parks and museums, and continues west toward the Arts, Science, and Historic districts.  For theater buffs, the Broward County Performing Arts Center (photo on right) is sure to be of interest.

Las Olas Blvd
One of Fort Lauderdale's most fashionable shopping districts, Las Olas Blvd is home to two Fort Lauderdale gay clothing shops - Audace and Bodygear.  Here you'll find everything from designer underwear to fine casual attire. There's no shortage of sidewalk cafes or restaurants and even a Cheese Cake Factory found in the Historic, Riverside Hotel which is Broward Counties oldest Hotel.

Las Olas Blvd begins on the eastern edge of downtown and continues east toward State Route A1A.

Wilton Manors
This small city located just northwest of Fort Lauderdale is home to more than 30 gay and lesbian owned businesses.  Don't forget the name, as it is more than likely that some local is going to point you here at some point or another. This "Island City", known as Wilton Manors offers everything from Fine Dining at Chardees, specialty gift shops such as Oh What A Basket, a few gay clubs such as Georgie’s Alibi. Not to mention you could even get a workout at Better Bodies Gym!

Oakland Park
Although it does not look like a "gay city", Oakland Park is home to many of Fort Lauderdale's gay and lesbian citizens.  Unfortunately, there aren't any major attractions here.

Dania
Not an overly "gay area", Dania is an antique lovers dream.  Dania is located a few miles south of Fort Lauderdale on Federal Hwy (US1).  Over 200 dealers and 3 auction houses are located here.  Although this area isn't very pretty, the beauty that awaits you in the many antique shops is definitely worth it.
