Getting Around -Transportation

By Car

Getting around Miami and Miami Beach would normaly be by car.  However you also use the City Bus system or take Taxis.  In greater Miami would have the Miami International Airport, Metro Rail, Taxis, and the Down Town people mover.  To travel North to Greater Fort Lauderdla or Greater Palm Beach you may take the TRI RAIL or the Greyhound Bus.

The Electrowave
It is the newest, easiest, safest, scenic way to travel South Beach.  The Electrowave shuttle breezes through the heart of South Beach on famous Washington Avenue.  The route is a two-way circulator with six vehicles in operation at any given time.

It makes stops between South Pointe and 17th Street along Washington Avenue.  Conveniently located next to 3900 parking spaces, the route will take you to night spots, the Jackie Gleason Theater, the Convention Center, Lincoln Road and much more.

By Train
Metrorail
Miami-Dade County's 21-mile rapid transit system runs from Kendall through South Miami, Coral Gables, and downtown Miami; to the Civic Center/Jackson Memorial Hospital area; and to Brownsville, Liberty City, and Hialeah, with connections to Broward and Palm Beach counties at Tri-Rail Station.

The 21 Metrorail stations, which are about one mile apart, provide easy access for bus riders, pedestrians, and passengers using the drop-off and pick-up areas. Parking is available at 18 Metrorail stations, with garage parking at Dadeland South, Dadeland North, South Miami, Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza, Earlington Heights, and Okeechobee stations.

For just a $2 daily fee, park weekdays at any rail surface lot or parking garage when you ride Metrorail. Park free on weekends and holidays at most stations. For more information call 305.770-3131 or visit www.metro-dade.com.

Tri-Rail
This service offers a north-south route parallel to I-95, starting in Palm Beach County continuing south through Broward County (Fort Lauderdale) into Miami-Dade County.   For more info call 1-800-TRI-RAIL or visit

By Taxi
Traveling by Taxi in the Greater Miami area can become somewhat expensive, due to the spread out layout of the city.  If you do decide to use a taxi, call to arrange a pickup at: 305-888-8888. Hailing a cab in Greater Miami may be difficult depending on where you are.
