Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport Get Map
A great many visitors arrive through Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport (FLL), which is served by most major airlines. FLL is located at the intersection of Federal Hwy (US1) and I-575. I-95 is just a few miles to the west on I-575.
Getting Arround
By Car
This is the most popular method of transportation in Dania Beach, Davie and Hollywood. Fortunately, most areas of Broward County have ample parking, with the exception of the beach area along A1A. If you're staying on the beach, call ahead to insure you will have a place to park your car.
Allow lots of extra time when heading to or from the beach. Beach traffic on A1A on Holliday weekends can be unbearable, with traffic often at a standstill. You can also be delayed by the many drawbridges crossing the Intracoastal Waterway.
I-95 is the regions major north-south expressway, connecting South Florida to the rest of the US's East Coast. The Florida Turnpike is another main north-south expressway, connecting South Florida with Orlando. From Fort Lauderdale, Miami is about a 30 minute drive south on either expressway. Although not expressways, Federal Hwy (US1) and State Route A1A, are more scenic north-south routes. The major east-west routes (from north to south) are Sterling, Sheridan and Pembrooke Blvd, and I-575.
Florida's car rental rates are among the lowest in the country, so many people choose to fly in and rent a car, rather than driving. For car rental reservation info, Call Gold Coast Car Rental at: 1-800-421-8752 and tell them the name of the Guesthouse that you are staying with. They have proven to be the Gay Friendliest and offer the best service minded car rental Agency.
By Bus
Even though Broward County Mass Transit serves the entire county, getting from Point A to Point B can be a very confusing and frustrating experience. If you do decide to use the bus system, we suggest you call ahead and plan your route(s). Broward County Mass Transit can be reach at 954.357.8400.
By Train
Tri-Rail offers a north-south route parallel to I-95, starting in Palm Beach County continuing south through Broward County (Fort Lauderdale has 2 stops) (Hollywood has one stop) into Miami-Dade County and vise-versa. For more info call 1-800-TRI-RAIL or visit www.tri-rail.com
By Taxi
Traveling by Taxi in Dania Beach, Davie and Hollywood can become somewhat expensive, due to the spread out layout of the cities. If you do decide to use a taxi, call to arrange a pickup - hailing a cab in all three Cities is next to impossible. The Yellow Cab can be reached at 954.777-7777
Miami International Airport Get Map
Offering many more daily flights than FLL, Miami International Airport (MIA) is definitely an option to consider. To reach Dania Beach, Davie and Hollywood from MIA, follow the Airport Expressway to I-95, then follow I-95 north for approximately 20 miles. If you drive from MIA, stick to the main roads, as the airport isn't in the greatest neighborhood. Exit on Hollywood Blvd., Sheridan Street, and Sterling. For Davie drive West on any of the 3 exits.
By Car
South Florida is very easy to reach by car. From the north, follow I-95 or the Florida Turnpike south to Fort Lauderdale. I-95 runs along the eastern coast, and the Florida Turnpike runs south from its intersection with I-75 through Orlando into South Florida.
By Train
Amtrak offers many different ways to get to South Florida. Amtrak's "Silver Service" offers three different trains all with direct routes to South Florida from the North East, and 2 other routes connect Florida with the West.
